An ongoing part of this project has been the body work. Slowly we have found patch panels, used and replacement fenders, and have gotten schooled in primers, bondo, and sandpaper grits. Here is an earlier pic of a patch panel that was built up to match the curve of the body.
Here is the other side of the car and its patch panel being smoothed in. The rear fenders, which came with 40 years of experience, had their share of dings and nicks that needed to be smoothed out.
The interior of the hood, engine cover and passenger area, all needed to be prepared in a matching color to the main body. I found a lacquer-type paint that was easy to apply and was a close match to "rock-star red".
Here the car has been totally primered. This smoothes out imperfections, allows for further corrections (more block sanding), and prepares the surface for a good bond for the top coat. Its a lot of work, and yet there always seems to be a little bit more to be done.
