The Surefire Path of Life

Psalm 16:11
You have made known to me the path of life.

One of the things on  my check list to get Hulda on the road was to purchase a new battery.  The one we had to see if she would start up was David's, and I felt I needed to get it back to him after we got Hulda to the garage.  Car batteries are expensive, but I found a deal on a "Surefire" - how can you go wrong with a name like that?

As we have been working on restoring the electrical system, we have tested the foundations of electricity - that a circuit or path has to be completed for energy to flow.  If the battery isn't hooked up or there is a break in the wiring, there is no spark or life in the line.  When we installed the new starter, we found that some of the wiring had to be replaced to get a good connection.

I have found that God has gone to a lot of work to ensure that He and I have a good connection.  As the writer of the Psalms mentions, it is God who has made known the path of life, He fills us with joy in his presence (Psalm 16:11).

When I live my life like God doesn't exist, without faith, then there is a break in our relationship and things don't flow.  The good news is that the source of our Spark never needs recharging (the Lord is the Surefire God), and he is always ready to help us mend, or even replace, those areas of our lives that have become corroded or broken through our own selfish or prideful acts.  The path of life he has made known to us is through his son Jesus, who reconciled us to God though his life, his death on a cross for our sake, and his resurrection.

That charges me up!
