Hulda is beginning to share her secrets. As we were removing her paint to get down to bare metal for our patch work, David noticed an interesting pattern. The patch work done on the front half of the car revealed layers of red, then blue, then yellow at the bottom. You can see it here under where the spare tire sits in front...
Yet on he back half of the car, the paint was layered just red on top and blue underneath - there was no yellow layer to be found. What's going on here?
Then we found a weld seam, running across the edge of the front seat tray, going across the width of the car.
As best we can determine, at some point in the history of this bug it was involved in a significant crash to the front end, and a yellow donor car was clipped to the blue back half, and then the whole car was painted red. I just hope Hulda doesn't have mutliple personality disorders to deal with along with the rest of the repairs!
